With so much media attention related to the Umbrella rig and other variants, Fishwrench.com felt it important to include the following rule change for the 2012 and future FWBass tournament series.
Umbrella rigs (variants include the Alabama/Yumbrella rig) are deemed illegal in all FWBass tournaments. This rule applies to all bodies of water, regardless of the body of water being fished, and other state DNR rules. Not being able monitor the lure usage from a distance, this includes umbrella rigs modified to have only one hook per rig.
This rule extends to any lure designed to catch more than one fish on a single cast, including double dropshot rigs, and double fluke rigs.
Any competitor found to be using an umbrella rig or similar lure type will be disqualified from that event. Future violations from the same competitor will result in forfeiture from the entire season.
